Is Savage Blood Being Duped? Here's The Evidence
I was tipped off by Twitter user @OriShmori that there's a strong chance that Savage Blood is being duplicated ("duped") on several servers.
@PowerWordGold @CM_Lore Hopefully something will be done about the rampant Savage blood dupes. http://t.co/wbaEzSI298If this is true this could be very bad for anyone hoping to make gold selling Savage Blood or selling items made with Savage Blood.
— Ori (@OriShmori) December 26, 2014
This isn't the first time I've written on the topic of item duplication and its effects on the economy (see Strong Evidence of Rampant Item Duplication in WoW and Proof Of Jeweled Onyx Panther Duping And Its Effects On Pricing). My guess is that (sadly) this won't be the last. Read on for our evidence and the ability to check the data for yourself.

Blizzard To Allow Gold Buying? WildStar Did It First (Which Is Good)!
In Blizzard's 2014 World of Warcraft in the New Year forum post it mentioned that it is contemplating allowing players to buy in-game game-time tokens and then sell them to other players for gold.
While I'm sure there will be much player reaction to this possibility, when looking at the WildStar C.R.E.D.D. system I couldn't find much to dislike about it. Read on past the jump for a recap of the WildStar C.R.E.D.D. system and what it could look like in World of Warcraft.

The Curious Case of /r/WoWGoldMaking
I think reddit is one of the best websites/communities out there. That's the reason I chose to start the /r/WoWGoldMaking subreddit over 2 years ago. Over the last 2+ years I think the subreddit has grown into an awesome resource for the gold-making community.
I was (and still am) proud of what we (meaning the community not the goofy "royal" we I'm so fond of) created over there. It was a place where people could ask questions, share their blog posts and discuss gold-making in general.
Imagine my surprise when I received a reddit message letting me know that the subreddit had been requested to be turned over to another redditor.
By surprise I mean utter shock and a fair amount of freaking out. What was happening? Why was this person asking to have the subreddit turned over to them? Most of all why wasn't my reddit user page (/r/fluxdada) showing up? Read on for more about what happened (from my perspective at least).

Reporting/Stopping In-Game Calendar Spammers
![]() |
I complained about the recent in-game calender gold spam on twitter and @NotAnna was kind of enough to share the above image where Blizzard CSM Velocytori gives some advice for people wanting to report and/or help stop the calendar spam.
NotAnna was also nice enough to provide the copy and paste-able text for us all as well.
If right-clicking on the event and selecting "Report Player" doesn't work try the macro below.
Be sure to read time text in the image above (click on image to enlarge) for the full instructions.
Here is the relevant macro text for removing the invite in text form.
/run for i=0,99 do for y=1,31 do t,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,iB =CalendarGetDayEvent(i,y,1) if iB=="" or t=="TITLE" then CalendarContextInviteRemove(i,y,1) end end end
*Important: Replace TITLE in the script above, with the name of the spam event*

Proof vs. Evidence [Link]
Phat Lewts wrote:
"I just believe that Jim's argument is not compelling, and I know that I definitely would not want him to be my lawyer based on his definition of proof. All he provides is circumstantial evidence at best, while throwing the word proof around as if it's meaningless."

I now think evidence would have been a better choice of words.
Be sure to read the full post for more on Phat's reasoning as well as our original post.

Proof Of Jeweled Onyx Panther Duping And Its Effects On Pricing
This isn't the first time that we've looked into evidence of duping (illicit duplication) of items (both big and small) in World of Warcraft. We've been hearing livestream viewers and readers complaining about duping of the Jeweled Onyx Panther mounts.
We decided to dig deeper into the actual numbers and try to determine if duping of panther mounts is happening and if so what its effects on pricing and the sellability of these mounts by gold-makers. Read on past the jump for more.

Robes of Insight Now Being Duplicated?
I've had a sneaking suspicion lately that with all the illicit BOE mount duping that's likely been going on on the servers lately (you've all heard the level 1's in trade chat trying to sell Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger for 15k) that it would only be a matter of time before the dupers moved onto other high-value items as targets for their market-ruining duping (duplicating items by illicit means such as hacks, bugs. etc.).
I'm afraid I may have been right. Read on past the jump for more.

Strong Evidence of Rampant Item Duplication in WoW
We've heard plenty of circumstantial evidence of rampant "duping" (duplication) of items in recent months. We've heard accounts of cheap Reins of the Crimson Death Charger, Queen's Garnets and Sands of Time from readers, livestream viewers and other bloggers.
The Undermine Journal recently added new "global" item pages that provide some pretty damning evidence that item duplication is indeed happening. Read on past the jump for my thoughts on item duping and how we can react to it.

For-Pay WoW "Gold Guide" Obliterated By Faid
Watch as Faid (from Nerf Faids) completely obliterates the credibility of this for-pay "gold guide". (Also check out Faid's corresponding blog post.)
All I could think after watching Faid's video was get 'em a body bag.
Unfortunately there will be people out there who will be suckered into buying guides like this. Thanks to Faid's hard work I know I won't have to worry about any of our readers falling into such a trap.
If any of our readers have felt ripped off by a gold guide that they have paid real money for be sure let us know via email (powerwordgold@gmail.com) or in the comments below.

Dealing With Super Competitive Glyph Markets
Today's gold-making question comes from a reader who's just started on the road to glyph profit but ran into some pretty scary competition. The glyph market can be one of the most fiercely competitive markets in the whole game. Read on past the jump to to read their question and my answer.

My Secret Shame: 250K Is The Most Gold I've Ever Owned
A few of you may have caught a recent twitter I posted celebrating the fact that I'd finally reached 250K gold. (I also talked about it a bit on Podcast Episode 015 (around 2:11).) Like many of you out there reaching certain milestones grants us to the opportunity to write about our experiences and have them posted on WarcraftEcon's Hall of Fame.
I took advantage of this chance myself yesterday and did my Hall of Fame interview and got it sent off to WarcraftEcon. Writing my 250K interview gave me a chance to reflect back on some of the things that helped me get to 250K but also on some of the feelings I've had inside as a gold-blogger and the stigma that I thought existed in the community for those who hadn't "made it" so to speak due to never having reached an "important" gold milestone.
After the jump I discuss what my thoughts and feelings are on the topic of the importance of milestones as well as my advice for those who may be struggling with thoughts of inadequacy.

The Obsidium Shuffle is Dead - Patch 4.1 Uncommon Gem Vendor Price 75s
Breaking news for all those who depend on "The Obsidium Shuffle" for your income. MMO-Champion is reporting that Cataclysm uncommon (green-quality) gems will be be changed in Patch 4.1 from a vendor value of 9 gold each all the way down to 75 silver. (See "Patch 4.1 PTR Notes - April 8th Update" from MMO-Champion.)
"Bold Carnelian, Solid Zephyrite, Subtle Alicite, Perfect Quick Alicite, Sovereign Nightstone, Regal Jasper, Resolute Hessonite, any cut of uncommon gem now sells to NPC for 75 silver instead of 9 gold."
What this means is that if you are sitting on a stockpile of uncommon Cataclysm gems now is the time to cut and vendor many if not all of them. My recommendation of what to do to prepare this change and not lose your shirt is after the jump.

Middlecutting in the Glyph Market
As a former glyph rockstar turned jaded glyph dropout I thought I'd share a bit of my most recent attempt at glyph catharsis: middlecutting.
I talked a bit about this on this last Friday's JMTC weekly meeting I thought I'd take some time to further explain the idea. I recommend it to anyone with any built up glyph-rage.

The Obsidium Shuffle: Heating Up or Winding Down?
On this lazy Saturday night as I sit here cutting and vendoring an obscene amount of Zephyrite I have to wonder. Is the Obsiduim shuffle still worth it?
With ore prices dropping to rock bottom on many servers (many believe because of an increase of botting activity) you'd think the shuffle would be more profitable than ever (although my sore gem-cutting fingers may disagree with you). Is it still worth the time to do 'the shuffle'?
