In this video I go over how to use the (Beta) TradeSkillMaster Web APIs (Stormspire post explaining the feature) to download a .csv of my realm auction house pricing data and build a Google Drive Sheets spreadsheet that allows me to access and manipulate that data to do things like:

• Quickly show prices for multiple items on the AH in one look.
• Quickly show prices for any list of item names or item IDs.
• Be able to do things like calculate material costs for items.
• See which crafted items are selling for the most and the cost per mat etc.

In the post "Build 18566: Garrison and Profession Shifts" BlizzPro's Crow (@unlimitedBLACK) gives us some further observations and insights on how garrisons and professions are coming together (and working together) in the Warlords of Draenor beta.

My initial thoughts are I don't like this new Warcraft movie logo but I'm not sure how much of that is based on the actual merits of the logo versus how much of that feeling is based on a a sort-of "you're messing with our stuff" tradition bias.

In addition, it seems from looking closely at the image that this is a still image from a motion picture and we seem to be seeing the logo in mid-special effect as the blue logo is being burnt with read fire and leaving behind the upper grey logo.

Regardless of if it's caught in mid-effect or not the basic structure of the logo itself, blue or grey, will likely be an issue for most World of Warcraft traditionalists as it seems to disregard anything from the original WoW logo design instead going for more of a "Starcraft" feel.

Either way, I'm sure it will grow on me.

After tweeting that I was looking at the new TradeSkillMaster Application beta I was asked by a reader to post up some screenshots. Today I'll be giving you a brief overview of the current beta release of the new TradeSkillMaster Application.

The new application has some really neat tricks up its sleeve as well as a whole new backend that is quite exciting. This is a large departure from the previous application and puts it much more on par with services like The Undermine Journal and WoWuction. Read on for more.

A new subreddit has been created for readers, viewers, listeners, supporters, and fans of Power Word: Gold (AKA "The Power Word: Gold Nation").

/R/PWGNation is a subreddit built to let all everyone in the Power Word: Gold community come together to share and discuss gold-making ideas, ask and answer gold-making questions, and interact directly with me (Jim).

Its main purpose is to be a meeting place where people who enjoy Power Word: Gold can come together, share and socialize.

Being a "text post only" subreddit, /r/pwgnation is not designed for (and does not allow) self-promotion (including by Power Word: Gold itself).

I plan to be very active on the subreddit and the current moderators plan to add additional moderators picked directly from The Power Word: Gold Nation.

Head over to http://www.reddit.com/r/pwgnation and subscribe, submit ideas and questions, and enjoy yourself. If you want to easily keep tabs on new content you can also subscribe to the /r/PWGNation RSS feed.

If you're like me you love reddit but it can be hard to stay up to date on all your subreddits. In order to help myself stay up do date on the /r/GoldMakingDiscussion subreddit I decided to make an RSS feed for it.

This allowed me to not only add it to my RSS reader (Feedly) but also the the Power Word: Gold blogroll (in the right sidebar) and build an IFTTT recipe to email myself when a new item is posted to /r/GoldMakingDiscussion.

Head past the jump for two RSS feeds that will allow you to subscribe to get updated on new posts to /r/GoldMakingDiscussion.

Today I was poking around on Wowuction and found some sections that have some really interesting statistics about how one server/faction' auction house compares to other server/faction's auction house.

In particular the "Reports > Realm Overview" page. Have you ever wondered how your particular realm and faction compares to other realms? Read on to learn how to find out.

I'm up entirely too late on the day before we have to finish packing but I wanted to let people know that after what happened with my reddit shadowban and the transfer of moderation of /r/WoWGoldMaking to someone else I had resigned myself to laughing at cat pictures and taking a "step back".

Then I realized that that would be a terrible idea.

Instead I created a new subreddit for World of Warcraft gold-making discussion entitled /r/GoldMakingDiscussion.

If you were a fan of /r/WoWGoldMaking head over to /r/GoldMakingDiscussion and subscribe.

So what's different about /r/GoldMakingDiscussion? No links allowed. the subreddit is a text ("self") post only subreddit.

People are not allowed to link to anything as part of a submission. There is no way in hell that I'm going to let myself or anyone else who uses the subreddit get shadowbanned from reddit because they chose to post links to their own content.

If you want to post your own content on reddit I'm sure you can find other subreddits to do it on.

That said if you do decide to be part of the new subreddit please read the rules on the sidebar. The moderators and I are serious about them. (Also they are going to be fleshed out as time goes along.)

Anyway I need to sleep. Head over and subscribe and lets build a great place for people to discuss World of Warcraft gold-making (again).

I think reddit is one of the best websites/communities out there. That's the reason I chose to start the /r/WoWGoldMaking subreddit over 2 years ago. Over the last 2+ years I think the subreddit has grown into an awesome resource for the gold-making community.

I was (and still am) proud of what we (meaning the community not the goofy "royal" we I'm so fond of) created over there. It was a place where people could ask questions, share their blog posts and discuss gold-making in general.

Imagine my surprise when I received a reddit message letting me know that the subreddit had been requested to be turned over to another redditor.

By surprise I mean utter shock and a fair amount of freaking out. What was happening? Why was this person asking to have the subreddit turned over to them? Most of all why wasn't my reddit user page (/r/fluxdada) showing up? Read on for more about what happened (from my perspective at least).

In this impromptu livestream Erogroth and I go over his Calculating Enchanting Material Costs & The Enchantment Shuffle as well as look at the raw spreadsheet data that can be dowloaded from Wowuction.com (under Resources>Data Export>Data Export for Manual Use). We also dream up ways that this data could be manipulated for profit.

Every once and a while a gold-making thread will pop up on /r/wow. When they do I love reading the comments to try and learn what normal (ie. non-gold-maker) players do to make gold.

When the thread "How do you like to make your gold?" popped up today I was anxious to see what commenters were saying.

Learning how different players think about gold-making is a good way to stay a well-rounded gold-maker. Read on past the jump for some quotes from the thread.

It seems that a lot of people have been transferring or looking to transfer servers lately. When I asked why on twitter and Facebook the majority of the responses tended to fall into a few main categories including looking for a fresh start or wanting to "change things up" to add life back into the game.

Another common reason seemed to be a desire to leave a server where the player was having difficulty with making gold (often attributed to either a very high or very low server/faction population).

While I've been happy on the same server for the last 8 years (and have no desire to transfer) the reasons above are very valid. When Selltacular suggested writing a guide for gold-makers looking to transfer and I thought it was a great idea.

The following advice is for players looking at a server transfer as a way to improve their gold-making situation. Read on past the jump for more.

As we mentioned on The Power Word: Gold Podcast Episode 059 we've been exported data from the WoWuction.com Bargain Hunter Reports and importing it into temporary TradeSkillMaster shopping lists to quickly search for bargains.

In this quick video we show how to use a spreadsheet and The Undermine Journal data to calculate the median and average prices for completed items on the Black Market Auction House.

This can be helpful if you are thinking about bidding on a BMAH item but want to be careful not to over pay and not under pay. I also show how to find out if it has sold on your AH recently and for how much.
