Build Auction House Spies With Eternally Free "Starter Edition" Accounts
This is post is my entry into Cold's Gold Blogging Carnival for July, 2011: "Create Your Own Ideal Alt".
Blizzard recently changed the way their trial accounts work. Instead of being limited time accounts they are now eternally-free with not time limit. You never have to pay a cent. What Blizzard has now dubbed "World of Warcraft Starter Edition" includes the Vanilla and The Burning Crusade expansions.
While these free "Starter Editions" are eternally-free there are many restrictions on the account to prevent abuse. You can't use mail or chat in general chat. Can't be invited to a guild or trade with other players. You can reach a maximum level of 20 and you can't purchase or sell items on the auction house.
One thing these accounts can do is search the auction house. Follow me after the jump when I'll teach you how to use these completely free accounts to build your own auction house spies.

World of Warcraft Patch 4.2 Addon Survival Guide
Patch days are always a scary time for those of us (like me) who use a ton of addons. I've decided to devote this post to helping all of use who use these addons know which of them work and which are borked (and if possible how to un-bork them).
After the jump is my big list of addons and their current status as far as 4.2 goes.

Final Countdown to Patch 4.2
Picking up a piece off of Khalior's Tentacular Junkpile (See "Not a Patch Speculation Post (But it's as boring)") I wanted to talk about what I'll be doing in the last few days until Patch 4.2 drops (assuming it comes on June 28, 2011).
Get a peek into my preparation after the jump.

A Day In The Life Of A Gold Maker - My Daily Alchemy and Jewelcrafting Routine
Today we have a long-form video (40 mins) in which I go through my daily Alchemy and Jewelcrafting routines. I also do some mailing and auction housing. The fact that my daily routine took around 50+ minutes was quite a revelation to me.
(The video length was an experiment in using a longer video format. At 40 minutes it ended up being somewhere between a video and a podcast.)
Talking Points
- What do you do for your daily routine?
- What do you think of the longer-format video?
- What would you like to see featured in a future video?

Make Cheap Inferno Rubies Before 4.2
One of the things I was most happy about Patch 4.1 was that I had a large stockpile of Inferno Rubies I was able to sell right after the patch for extortionate prices.
Even my whole stockpile wasn't enough to sate the demand players had for Inferno Rubies to gem the new gear they were getting out of the new Heroic Zul'Aman/Zul'Gurub. I made a killing. I was smiling all the way to the bank.
One thing I promised myself was that I would make sure I had a good stockpile of Inferno Rubies for Patch 4.2 so I could supply the new-patch demand for gear gemming.
Once Patch 4.2 comes along the cost to produce Inferno Rubies will go up. After the jump I'm going to teach you how to produce cheap Inferno Rubies in the last few days before patch 4.2.

Two Ways Auctionator Has Changed How I Make Gold
As gold-makers we have lots and lots of tools available to help us improve our efficiency. We have addons to help us craft. Addons to help us put up auctions. Addons to help us cancel auctions. The list goes on and on.
These auctioning addons hold great power but also often come with steep learning curves. Add the fact that they are always in a state of constant updating and it can be a lot to learn (and try to remember).
Luckily for us we have gold bloggers to us learn. Two recent video from Gimp's Golden Adventure (See "Gimps Golden...Addons! #1 Addon Overview") and Nerf Faids (See "WoW Gold Rush - Blacksmithing") helped me learn an all-new (and better) ways to do my auctions. Find out what I learned (including a how-to video) after the jump.

TL;DR - Warcraft Econ Hall of Fames May 2011
I love Warcraft Econ. It's a site where anyone that reaches certain gold milestones (250K, 500K, 750K, 1M and 2M) can submit their own story for a chance to be included in The Warcraft Econ Hall of Fame. (See "Interview Submissions" section of the Hall of Fame page to find out how to submit your own milestone.)
I have to admit that I have a very short attention span and these interviews tend to go a bit long for me. I know that I've been missing out on some solid gold making strategies though. With that in mind I decided to make a TL;DR (Too long; didn't read.) post giving a small taste of the Hall of Fame interviews Warcarft Econ did in May 2011.
I hope that breaking these down into smaller chunks will help me glean some useful gold-making nuggets from these treasure troves of gold-making information. Follow me after the jump for my TL;DR version May's interviews.

More Spectral Tiger Mounts Coming Via WoW TCG Tournaments July 23-24
A recent promotion on the World of Warcraft Launcher caught my eye. "Players Go On a Spectral Safari With New Class Starter Decks".
If there is one word in that statement that most gold-makers should recognize it is "Spectral". The Spectral Tiger mount in one of the most sought after and highly valued BOE mounts in the game.
This is the kind of item that players with a decent amount of gold can potentially flip for a profit. A new promotion for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game (TCG) may be pumping more of these valuable mounts into the economy this month.
Find out how after the jump.

Introducing The Tram Rats Podcast - A General WoW Podcast
While I am technically still on a my "blogging vacation" until June 14th I wanted to make a quick post introducing a new podcast that I am making with my wife (AKA Pinkeytoes).
The Tram Rats Podcast is a general World of Warcraft podcast from a couple's perspective. We've both have been playing World of Warcraft for over 6 years and in that time have had quite a few adventures in Azeroth.
In the first episode we discuss our impressions of Cataclysm since its launch, tell some hilarious (to us at least) dungeon fail stories, give an over view of our current characters, discuss the success (or lack therof) of Call to Arms and much more.
We had an absolute blast making the first episode and look forward to making more. Head over and check out The Tram Rats blog or skip straight to Episode 001.
