New Connected Realms - Population and Auction House Analysis
Since first hearing about "Connected Realms" many of us gold-makers have wondered if and when our realms would become connected and how that would effect our economies.
Tomorrow (October, 21 2013) some of the first realms will become "Connected Realms". This means that for all intents and purposes all essential game systems, including the auction house, will be shared between the Connected Realms.
We spoke with Blizzard Technical Director Marco Koegler about connected realms in The Power Word: Gold Podcast Episode #071. Back then Marco let us know it would be a manual selection process. Head past the jump for more data and analysis.

How Does Your Realm's Auction House Compare?
Today I was poking around on Wowuction and found some sections that have some really interesting statistics about how one server/faction' auction house compares to other server/faction's auction house.
In particular the "Reports > Realm Overview" page. Have you ever wondered how your particular realm and faction compares to other realms? Read on to learn how to find out.

AH Spreadsheet Pulls Prices Directly From The Undermine Journal
I was approached by livestream viewer SheLuvme with a proposal. They wanted to take my Simple Living Steel Material Price Calculator and make it into an Excel spreadsheet that would automatically pull the material prices directly from The Undermine Journal servers. This would make it so I would always have updated pricing information.
This sounded great and they seem to have pulled it off. (One small snag, I don't own Microsoft Excel.) Regardless I've been assured by SheLuvme that this spreadsheet works. Head past the jump to learn how to get the spreadsheet and set it up for your own use.

Too Much Information About 83-84 Item Sales
In this livestream we spend a good deal of effort and time extracting and analyzing 83-84 MoP item sales data from TradeSkillMaster Accounting.
In the process we learn quite a bit about how the 83-84 item markets have worked for us and come to some interesting conclusions. We hope to put together a post detailing our results but until then you can get much of the info from these livestreams.

Auction House Sales Data Dump 1.5.13
I've been playing around with moving data from The Undermine Journal character sales pages (search for your character on your server and faction and be signed into TUJ to view sales info) into spreadsheets.
Below are some of the raw sales data from tonight's mailbox collection. I thought I'd share it so you can see what specific items are selling on my particular server. Head past the jump for the data.

How The Economics of Dreamcloth Are Changing
While working on one of my two tailors today I made a fairly startling discovery. The economics of creating Dreamcloth have completely changed. I first heard rumblings about this via @ssmith0911 and @msherretz on twitter. Basically the way I made Dreamcloth before Patch 4.3 very well may be a thing of the past.
I've been selling off my stocks of Dreamcloth as spell threads and had planned on simply making more the way I always had. I'm glad I didn't. Read on past the jump for my analysis of things every tailor should consider before making one more piece of Dreamcloth.

Raw Cataclysm Gems Can't Be Vendored On PTR
As reported on twitter by @JoshDJX Cataclysm uncommon and rare gems on the PTR currently show as having "No Sale Price" and can not be sold to vendors.
I hopped on the PTR and can confirm I am seeing the same thing. It seems that lower raw gems may not be affected as raw Tigerseye and Malachite still have a vendor price. The same was true for the cut uncommon and cut rare Cataclysm gems I tested.
After Patch 4.3 you may have to cut each and every gem in order sell it to a vendor. So what if anything should you do before the patch if we have large stocks of undervalued rare and uncommon Cataclysm gems we were planning to vendor? Head past the jump for PTR prices, maths and some suggestions.

Make Cheap Inferno Rubies Before 4.2
One of the things I was most happy about Patch 4.1 was that I had a large stockpile of Inferno Rubies I was able to sell right after the patch for extortionate prices.
Even my whole stockpile wasn't enough to sate the demand players had for Inferno Rubies to gem the new gear they were getting out of the new Heroic Zul'Aman/Zul'Gurub. I made a killing. I was smiling all the way to the bank.
One thing I promised myself was that I would make sure I had a good stockpile of Inferno Rubies for Patch 4.2 so I could supply the new-patch demand for gear gemming.
Once Patch 4.2 comes along the cost to produce Inferno Rubies will go up. After the jump I'm going to teach you how to produce cheap Inferno Rubies in the last few days before patch 4.2.

16g New 4.2 Obsidium Shuffle Floor Price And Here's Why
Recent news from the Patch 4.2 Public Test Realm (PTR) that the vendor price for uncut uncommon Cataclysm gems has being reduced from 5 gold each to 50 silver (See "Patch 4.2 PTR: Uncut green gems vendor price reduced") has lead many to wonder: "What is the new vendor "price floor" of a 20 stack of Obsidium Ore?"
The answer to that question as well as some advice on what to do to prepare after the jump.

Cataclysm Gems - Finding Lucrative Cuts Via The Undermine Journal Gems Array
The Undermine Journal is a treasure trove of valuable information for anyone interested in making gold in World of Warcraft.
Unfortunately for many of us it can also seem large (and often overwhelming) sea of information threatening to drown us in numbers. Today I am going to go over one of the most valuable tools I've found on The Undermine Journal: "The Gems Array".

The Economics of Elementium Lockboxes
A while back I posted about selling Obsidium Skeleton Keys on the auction house. (See "Obsidium Skeleton Keys: Gold Hiding Right On Our Keyring?") Since then I had been curious of it was economically viable to use a 29 gold Obsidium Skeleton Key to open an Elementium Lockbox.
We had about 12 Elementium Lockboxes sitting in our guild bank so I decided to open them up and calculate the average gold value of their contents.
