Warlords Pricing Trends for Ore, Herbs, Enchanting, Leather, and Cloth Since Launch
Tonight I am going to record the pricing trends for the various crafting materials introduced in Warlords of Draenor.
Since it's been about 2 weeks since launch the very beginning data will soon not be shown in The Undermine Journal charts. This is my chance to record it for posterity.
I'll be showing the charts and giving some light commentary after the break.
Methodology
I screenshotted these images from The Undermine Journal on 11/27/2014. They are from my main server of Kilrogg but based on some of the charts I've seen they are very similar to most other realms as far as pricing trends. How to Read
To read these charts:- The far left is approximately the 14th of November, 2014 (a day after launch).
- The right side of the chart is right around November 27, 20411
- The red line indicates the quantity available with the scale on the far right side of the chart
- The blue graph is the individual item price with the scale being on the far left side of the chart

Thoughts on Ore
I think that ore has pretty much tanked. It has been flirting with about 1g20s per ore for the last week or so. It would appear that unless something changes (nerf, hotfix etc.) you can expect to always be able to find ore on the auction house at dirt cheap prices. One thing to note is that although the price continues to drop the amount of ore on the auction house is slowly coming down as well. My guess would be that people who thought they could make a quick buck selling ore are realizing with prices this low is't just not worth it.
Even with this lowering of available ore the prices are still staying very low.
UPDATE: The garrisons have been hotfixed to give less ore. (Hat tip to @corrath for letting us all know.)
@CM_Lore: "@dopplegager @TheCrafticus The Garrison was giving too much ore. That was hotfixed yesterday. Will take some time to see the effects." 2:31 PM - 26 Nov 2014
In that tweet "yesterday" was Nov 25th, 2014 so this hotfix was in place a few days before this post. That's likely what cause the lowering of ore availability I mentioned above.
Do I think that you should stockpile cheap ore now due to the nerf? I'm not sure. In talking with @corrath they are buying ore under 1g.
I might stock up a bit if I can find it at a decent price. I don't really want to stockpile too much until I can monitor the prices to see if they will actually go up or not once the glut of ore clears off the auction house.

Thoughts on Herbs
Herbs seems to be holding fairly steady. Looking at them one by one it is hard to see similarities but once we stack them all together we can see that they are all following about the same pattern. While prices seem to be coming down slowly (likely due to more players reaching 96 and using their herb gardens) most seem to eb right around 6-8g per herb which isn't bad.
I'm anxious to see if we will see a similar eventual bottoming out in price that we saw with ore. Time will tell.
Enchanting
Draenic DustLuminous Shard

Thoughts on Enchanting Materials
I just want you to go back up and look at the Draenic Dust chart. Look at it. It's amazing. The availability was absolutely abysmal. I can see why Blizzard did a hotfix on it. Can you guess what day the hotfix went live?On November 26 (or so) when Draenic Dust was flooding into the market due to the hotfix Luminous Shards dipped quite hard.
Mat prices doe enchanting materials are likely still adjusting to the hotfix. Dust is sitting down a bit from pre-hotfix at a fairly steady 10g.
Both shards and Crystals have their prices jumping around quite a bit so it's hard to really determine what they will settle on.
Leather
Raw Beast HideThoughts on Leather
Leather has one of the most stable prices of all the materials. Even with a slow and steady increase in supply the price is pretty rock solid at around 18g or so.If you are selling leather you can expect to be able to sell it fairly reliably at that price. I expect it to continue a slow decrease in price but nothing dramatic.
Cloth
Sumptuous FurThoughts on Cloth
Cloth has a fairly steady price even if it does fluctuate quite a but. Interesting the supply seems to be drying up a bit. This could mean that prices might rise a bit or at least stay steady.I wonder why the supply seems to be gong down?
Either way if you're like me your skinner gets tons of cloth while skinning beasts in the wild. even though cloth is selling for an average of right around 3g each that is almost 3 times as much as ore. lol
I'd say cloth may be a slow and steady seller with fairly solid, of not a bit spiky, pricing.
Final Thoughts
Looking over all of these charts is kind of fascinating. One obvious thing is that prices for both kinds of ore have tanked. Unless something drastic changes I don't think that it will be worth most miner's time to go out into the world and mine.
Herbalism seems to have fared a bit better with most herbs selling in the 4-5g range. Time will tell what real effect garrison herb gardens will have on pricing.
Enchanting is in turmoil while people adjust to the hotfix. I'd wait a bit to see how prices shake out before planning anything big with it.
Skinning is the surprise winner according to these charts in my opinion. Mat prices are rock solid at right around 18g or so. In addition cloth is often dropped from mobs you skin and so you can add whatever cloth you get onto your skinning proceeds.
Wow. I didn't know what to expect from these charts but I'm really glad I took the time to look them over (and record them for posterity).
I'll be working on my skinners and possibly even look into building a few more barns to help bring in some revenue from leather.
What did you get out of the charts above?
