Adding Up Your Total Worth

Time is money, Friend!
The achievement system includes a 'Wealth' section in the "Statistics" tab. I decided to add up all the gold my main characters have ever made as well as looking at any other data I could glean from it.

If you weren't aware, you can find the gold statistics for your character by going to Achievement panel (Press Y) -> Statistics (tab on bottom) -> Character (on left) -> Wealth.

It is a bit staggering when you start to add up the numbers but can they tell us anything about ourselves as auctioneers?

Spreadsheets are an auctioneer's best friend.
Most of the spreadsheet work I do these days is done in Google Docs. If you haven't used Google Docs before I highly recommend it for all your lightweight spreadsheet needs.

I'll be breaking this down by character at first with a brief character history thumbnail to provide some point of reference. I'm going roughly from oldest toon to newest.

For these tables I use my own "gg.sscc" gold notation where 10.4576 = 10g 45s 76c.

In the table above I listed the total gold acquired for my 10 main characters. Compared to some of our gold making community members 736k isn't that much. To me it's a really nice reminder of how much I love making gold in this game.

It also makes me ponder where all that gold went. Right now I'm sitting at around 60k combined. 670k is a lot of spending money. My dad once said: "Money is like a river flowing by. Sometimes we get to reach in and take a little bit for ourselves. Mostly it just flows by."

If you are trying to add up your own character wealth and find that one of your the totals is listed as a negative amount of copper then you can use the tool I built here to calculate the actual gold value.

I also took time to come up with a few additional auction house stats taken from the Statistics>Wealth page.

From what I calculated I've been earning on average 8.7g per auction across all my characters. That may not seem like a lot but when multiply that across over the 639k auctions posted it adds up.

Summing up my gold totals really gave me a boost of energy to keep moving forward with my gold making efforts. It shows me that even though my bank roll may be low at times I am still a successful auctioneer.

Update 1: There has been some interesting comments over on a reddit post I made about this article. Appherently the total gold displayed counts up to 430k and then back down then up again.

I don't completely understand the math but there is a chance your high gold characters may not be showing the proper total gold. Head over and read the comments for yourself. Perhaps a future UI update will fix this display bug.
