Details On All Twenty Garrison Buildings In The Warlords Beta
The new Level 100 build of the Warlords of Draenor Beta is all about Garrisons with Blizzard giving you all sorts of tricks and shortcuts that allow beta testers to build all sorts of Garrison goodness.
I was very interested in all the different Garrison buildings along with all the different levels of those buildings and what benefits they offer. Read on past the jump for details on all twenty building you can build in the current beta.
Sizes and Levels
All of the buildings fit into three size categories: Large, Medium, and Small. In addition each building can be upgraded from level 1 to level 3 with each level having its own benefits.
You have two slots to build Large buildings, two slots to build Medium buildings and three slots to build Small buildings.
Below are all twenty buildings along with the benefits of each of their levels grants. In addition I'll be adding a few comments on building benefits I find interesting from a gold-making perspective.
Large Buildings
The following are the Large buildings you can place in your two Large building plots.
Dwarven Bunker
Dwarven Bunker, Large Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
It seems the Dwarven Bunker is all about the phat lewts. Level 2 has an interesting benefit as it allows the collection of items for transmogrification. While I don't know whether those can be sold on the auction house or not I would doubt it.
The Level 3 reward of a bonus roll once per week seems like it could be quite enticing for raiders.
Dwarven Bunker Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Doubles the chance for your quest rewards to get a rare or epic Bonus Upgrade.
- Level 2: Allows the collection of armor scraps from the Orc clans of Draenor for armor transmogrification use.
- Level 3: Grants a free raid bonus roll once per week.
Gnomish Gearworks
Gnomish Gearworks, Large Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
At Level 1 you have rockets, mines and speed boosts on your mount. Game over! At Level 2 you get a jet pack? Double game over! At Level 3 you create a freaking siege engine! #swoon
Gnomish Gearworks Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Unlocks a personal engineer that attaches rockets, mines, and speed boosts to your mounts. Exceptional work!
- Level 2: Your engineer grants you access to a Jet Pack.
- Level 3: Allows the creation of a siege vehicle once per day. Drive it to victory in Draenor.
Barracks
Barracks, Large Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
The Barracks is aimed at people looking to maximize their Garrision followers. (Or people who need a personal bodyguard for any reason.)
Barracks Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Unlocks Patrol Missions. Patrol Missions have higher than normal follower experience rewards.
- Level 2: Increase your follower limit by 10.
- Level 3: Allows a follower with the bodyguard trait to accompany you as a guardian in Draenor Zones.
Mage Tower
Mage, Tower Large Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
The Mage Tower makes portals. Yup.
Mage Tower Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Unlocks a portal to Ashran.
- Level 2: Unlocks a portal to Talador.
- Level 3: Unlocks a portal to Gorgrond and Nagrand.
Stables
Stables, Large Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
Stables are all about mounts, mounts, and more mounts. Makes sense.
The Level 2 perk may allow gatherers to mine and herb without getting off their mount. That combined with Level 3's 20% mount speed increase would speed things up for gatherers quite a bit.
Dwarven Bunker Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Enables the capture and the training of special mounts on Draenor.
- Level 2: You may remain mounted while interacting with objects in outdoor Draenor zones.
- Level 3: Increase mount speed in Draenor by 20%.
Large Building Wrap-Up
It would seem that overall the Large Garrision buildings are about quality of life, loot, and some vanity items like mounts.
As for gold-making, the Stable seems like it could give gatherers definite benefits if speed and not having to unmount.
Medium Buildings
The following are the Medium buildings you can place in your two Medium building plots.
Barn
Barn, Medium Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
The Barn give us rare leather, rare meat and rare and epic furs. Skinners? Who needs 'em!
While I believe we've had rare leather and even rare and epic furs I'm not sure I've ever heard of rare meat.
This seems like it would be a medium building that Leatherworkers could benefit from.
Stable Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Allows you to capture Clefthoof and Talbuk for rare leather.
- Level 2: Allows you to capture Wolves and Boars for rare meat.
- Level 3: Allows you to capture Sabertooth and Rylak for rare and epic furs.
Sparring Arena
Sparring Arena, Medium Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
This one's for you PVPers and questers! The Level 1 perk would regen your health and mana in just over 30 seconds. Say bye bye to sitting down to eat and drink.
Level 2's safe fall might have PVP benefit and underwater breathing could be fun for explorer types.
Level 3 damage reduction could be nice for open-world PVPers (or people who often find themselves below 35% life when questing).
Sparring Arena Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Increases your out-of-combat regeneration to 3% of your maximum health and mana per second in outdoor Draenor zones.
- Level 2: Enables unlimited underwater breathing and safe fall in outdoor Draenor zones.
- Level 3: While below 35% life, all damage is reduced by 50% in outdoor Draenor zones.
Lumber Mill
Lumber Mill, Medium Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
Cutting down trees to gain Garrison supplies? How goblin of you!
For those needing extra Garrison supplies this seems like the building for you. How precious or how much of an advantage you'll get by having more supplies remains to be seen.
Lumber Mill Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Allows players to mark small trees in Draenor for harvest. Harvested Timber can be converted to work orders for Garrison supplies.
- Level 2: Allows you to mark medium trees for additional Timber.
- Level 3: Allows you to mark large trees for even more Timber.
Lunarfall Inn
Lunarfall Inn, Medium Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
Random weekly and daily followers? Treasure hunting? This one may be for the gamblers out there.
I can't really tell if these will be useful or not. Again, time will tell although those "lucrative" Treasure Hunt missions might be nice if the items obtained can be sold on the auction house or to the vendor.
Lunarfall Inn Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Recruits random followers each week.
- Level 2: Allows you to select traits and abilities for your daily random followers.
- Level 3: Unlocks the particularly lucrative Treasure Hunt missions.
Trading Post
Trading Post, Medium Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
This building grants access to the higher levels of the Shattari Defense or Laughing Skull factions. While I don't know what these factions might give the extra 20% faction gain in Draenor might be nice.
Sparring Post Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Unlocks access to the Shattari Defense or Laughing Skull factions up to Honored reputation level.
- Level 2: Grants access up to the Revered reputation level for the Shattari Defense or Laughing Skull factions.
- Level 3: Grants access up to the Exalted reputation level for the Shattari Defense of Laughing Skull factions. Also increases reputation gain in Draenor by 20%.
Medium Building Wrap Up
Medium buildings seem to be a bit of a mixed bag. Besides the leather from the Barn and maybe the "lucrative" Treasure Hunt missions of the Lunarfall Inn nothing stands out as especially good for our traditional way of making gold.
As we learn more about how the Garrisons interact with gold-making we'll start to have a better idea of what buildings will provide the most benefit for our particular situations.
Small Buildings
The following are the Small buildings you can place in your three Small building plots.
Alchemy Lab
Alchemy Lab, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
In a theme you'll see repeated in most of the profession-type small buildings the Alchemy lab allows you to produce some Alchemy items even if you don't have the profession.
This may allow people who have limited numbers of characters to be a bit more self-sufficient by allowing them to get some items without having to interact with other players including buying them from the auction house.
While this may have a bit of an effect on the bottom line of gold-makers if everyone can have a little building making their supplies I think there will still be a market for people who don't have the time or patience to build their Garrisons or level their professions.
Also it appears that having an Alchemy Lab will allow you to learn new patterns which I think may be tied to the work orders or, more likely, the "special reagents" you produce daily.
Sparring Arena Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Refines raw materials into special Alchemy reagents each day, and allows the production of alchemical items.
- Grants a random potion every day. Also allows players up to 3 work orders at one time.
- Allows up to 5 work orders at one time.
Enchanter's Study
Enchanter's Study, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
Allowing non-enchanters to disenchant items? If this becomes popular I can see the markets having plenty of cheap enchanting mats going around which could be a good thing or bad thing depending on how you look at it.
Enchanter's Study Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Refines raw materials into special Enchanting reagents each day, and allows the production of enchanted items. Also allows non-Enchanters to disenchant items.
- Level 2: Items disenchanted at the Study generate more materials. Also allows up to 3 work orders at once.
- Level 3: Allows up to 5 work orders at once.
Engineering Works
Engineering Works, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
A deadly engineering device that may be extremely harmful to your opponent's (and your) health? Sounds about right. Other than that this seems fairly par-for-the-course as far as these profession small buildings go.
Engineering Works Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Refines raw materials into special Engineering reagents each day, and allows the production of Engineered items.
- Level 2: Grants you the use of an experimental engineering device each day. This device is extremely dangerous for both the user and the target. Also allows up to 3 work orders at once.
- Level 3: Allows up to 5 work orders at once.
Gem Boutique
Gem Boutique, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
Has Blizzard caught onto our Jewelcrafting shuffling ways and decided to help us out by letting us simply sell directly to the vendor for a decent price?
Gem Boutique Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Refines raw materials into special Jewelcrafting reagents every day, and allows the production of Jewelcrafting items.
- Level 2: Sell Jewelcrafting goods to a local vendor for gold. Also allows up to 3 work orders at one time.
- Level 3: Allows up to 5 work orders at once.
Salvage Yard
Salvage Yard, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
I'm not exactly sure what "Salvage" is used (it seems they are rewards from follower missions) for but this building seems to be the one to build if you're looking for it.
Level 3 also includes "player items" in Salvage which if able to be sold on the auction house could be good. Of course that's a big "if".
Salvage Yard Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Allows Salvage to be occasionally recovered from missions.
- Level 2: Increases your chance at recovering Salvage from missions. In addition, you may now discover follower items in Salvage.
- Level 3: Greatly increases your change at recovering Salvage from missions. In addition, you may now discover player items in Salvage.
Scribe's Quarters
Scribe's Quarters, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
Gaining illicit goods? Whoo-doggy! Sounds like a plan. (Depending on how good the goods are of course.)
Also, the possibility of being able to get all your alt's their glyphs (if that's allowed) without bothering other players to make them for you could be appealing for some players.
Scribe's Quarters Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Refines raw materials into special Inscription reagents each day, and allows the production of inscribed items.
- Level 2: Create forged documents that allows you to gain illicit goods. Also allows up to 3 work orders at once.
- Level 3: Allows up to 5 work orders at once.
Storehouse
Storehouse, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
Move bank space, guild bank, transmog, void storage AND 3 more work orders for all buildings? What a deal. (If you like those sorts of things.)
The bank and guild bank access might be nice depending on how inconvenient it is and to get to them from your Garrison.
Storehouse Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Enables access to your personal bank and increases the total number of active work orders for all buildings by 1.
- Level 2: Enables access to your guild bank.
- Level 3: Enables access to an Ethereal Trader for Void Storage and Transmogrification and increases the total numbers of active work orders for all buildings by 2.
Tailoring Emporium
Tailoring Emporium, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
Banners, pennants, and flags? Oh my! (Oh yeah, and they have "various effects".)
Sparring Arena Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Refines raw materials into special Tailoring reagents each day, and allows the production of tailored items.
- Level 2: Sells a variety of placeable banners, pennants, and flags, which have various effects. Also allows up to 3 work orders at once.
- Level 3: Allows up to 5 work orders at once.
The Forge
The Forge, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
Removes "wear & tear" (non-death?) durability loss and allows smelting? Hmmm.
The Forge Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Refines raw materials into special Blacksmithing reagents each day, and allows the production of smithed items.
- Level 2: Removes wear & tear durability loss. Also allows up to 3 work orders at once.
- Level 3: Allows up to 5 work orders at once.
The Tannery
The Tannery, Small Garrison Building - Warlords of Draenor Beta |
A portable "well rested" buff? Huh. (Although the idea of plopping down your own tent is pretty cool.)
The Tannery Tooltip Text:
- Level 1: Refines raw materials into special Leatherworking reagents each day, and allows the production of leatherworked items.
- Level 2: Sells a variety of tents that offer a well rested buff if used on logout. Also allows up to 3 work orders at once.
- Level 3: Allows up to 5 work orders at once.
Small Building Wrap Up
It seems that vast majority of use that we will get out of the small buildings are the daily profession cooldowns which I have the feeling will provide tokens and/or some other way to get new professions recipes in Warlords of Draenor.
There are a few small buildings that offer a few things outside professions including Salvage and access to banks.
Conclusion
Looking over the perks that the various buildings offer it seems that there is likely something for everyone.
I think that as time goes on was will start to get a better idea about how to best use the buildings to suit your own situations.
What do you think of the buildings and their perks? What is the building you are most looking forward to?
